The Wizard of Oz holiday cablecasts, TBS and TNT. The stations' annual holiday season showings of the famous film version are, generally speaking, around Thanksgiving on TBS and Christmas on TNT. Keep checking back for details throughout the season.


If I Only Had Christmas television movie, The Hallmark Channel

If I Only Had Christmas television movie premiere, The Hallmark Channel. It was bound to happen at some point: A Hallmark Christmas romance movie based (loosely) on The Wizard of Oz! Candace Cameron Bure stars as Darcy, a publicist who teams up with Huck, a cynical business owner played by Neil Webb, to help out a charity in need. Other character names already known to be in it are Zeke and Almira! The production premieres November 29 at 8:00 pm EST/PST, probably with a few other airings during the season. It's in development now (they're even auditioning), and is scheduled to open October 25. This year celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of its opening, the now-mostly-closed-but-not-abandoned Wizard of Oz theme park in the mountains of western North Carolina opens on select dates this summer for its annual Journey with Dorothy tour. The world's longest continuously running Wizard of Oz convention is bark live (we hope) in 2021! As part of the centennial celebration of The Royal Book of Oz, the first book not written by L. The Oz Run, Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin

This annual 5K and half-marathon run raises money for local charities while the participants dress in Oz costumes as they make their ways to the Emerald City at the end. Wicked movie, cinemas worldwide

December 22, 2021: Wicked movie, cinemas worldwide. The original release date for 2019 didn't pan out, but Universal is trying again by announcing a new release date for the film version of the hit Broadway musical version of the story of the witches of Oz, based on the novel by Gregory Maguire. Keep watching this space for updates, including casting.

Thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic messing up film production, Universal has pushed several animated films further back in the schedule—including Sing 2 to December 22, 2021. This now leaves Wicked without a release date. As soon as one is announced, this entry will be updated again.
