Other Oz Books
The story of Oz didn't end with the Famous Forty and related books by the Royal Historians. Many others have continued, or put their own spin on, the story of Oz. These are the ones that are more readily available.

Tales of Magic Land by Aleksandr Volkov and Sergei Sukhinov. These books are translations into English of the Magic Land books, originally published in Russian. When his efforts fail, he leads an army of golems to a certain underground cavern, where the Flame is reputed to be already, and the saga assumes a cosmic dimension.

The Ten Woodmen of Oz by March Laumer. Ten woodmen, led by Princess Dorothy, are sent to the great outside world in an effort to convince the powers that be to utilize magic instead of technology in order to dispel the horrible miasma of smog and pollution that covers the entire planet. Their efforts seem in vain, and in fact stir up events that lead to World War III, but though the end result was supposed to be a lessening of pollution in the atmosphere of Earth, the new solution proves just as ingenious!
